Looping on an external drive

Post by chief »

Hi Jesse and/or anyone else that can help me.

total NOOB question - so my apologies in advance.

Trying to do some guiter looping in AUlab. Using a Behringer firewirebox (FCA202) and wanted to set up a loop where the loops are written to an external firewire drive. In addition to being a much faster drive than my internal laptop drive, I was thinking it may help with some audio drop issues I'm getting off multiple tracks currently.

I tried checking in preferences and I can see how to write the stereo mix to the external but not set up the loops to do so.

Am I missing something?

Also - If I were to use this in Logic or mainstage - would that make a difference in where I could store the loops?

Thanks!

If want to save the individual loop audio you recorded inside SL, you have to use the SL GUI save buttons individually on each loop, which pops up a normal file save window where you can browse to your external hard drive. If you want to save the whole session of loops you can do that from SL's Session menu, choosing the save with audio item.

There is also a midi bindable loop save command that will write the loop to a autogenerated timestamped filename, but you can't yet control what default folder it stores it to... and in fact, I'm not sure off-hand where they go on Macs. I was planning on adding a parameter in the preferences to let you set that default folder.
