Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Jesse, Thanks! Would I just do an OSC message as follows?: /set smart_eighths 0 Or is this something when I do in the command line when I fire up sooperlooper. Honestly, after thinking about it and messing around for a while, this may not be a bad feature, atleast, if one stick to the idea of quanti...

Eighth_per_cycle sometimes doubles itself without user input
It's been a long time, but I am back to working on this project again. If Jesse is around somewhere, I have a question for him which is stumping me. I noticed when sending "eighth_per_cycle" numbers via OSC to sooperlooper, such as "5" or "4", that Sooperlooper will som...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Gentlemen, Big steps. All components are mounted in enclosure but 1 (which should be easy, just need to find a place). Also, I got a 3d printer, and created custom enclosures for my LED rings. Mounted all loop channels (decided on 5, I couldn't make room for the 6th, but 5 is plenty). Wired everythi...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Been working on this thing every night for over a week. I won't go out with friends until it's done. Alignwaivers: I should be able to get you some audio samples, and describe things soon. So far, by initial tests, both seem very high quality. I had some noisy interference at first with the guitar p...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
alignwavers: The MCP23017 is for individual LED lights to toggle various Sooperlooper options. It might be overkill, however, I am fundamentally excited about the ability to change quantize settings on the pedal itself (possibly on the fly). This will make more sense once I finish the prototype. I a...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Updates: 1. New preamp soldered correctly, finally, and tested as working. 2. Also got in a new Audio Injector card, this time the $50 Octo (because I screwed up the first also by soldering). This card gives me 8 outputs and 6 inputs, so I can have an optional seperate output per loop (My guitarist ...

alignwaivers: Coincidentally, I also have a Novation LaunchControl which I am using for SuperCollider, but not SuperLooper. Furthermore, your ws2812b LED strips have the same chip as my LED Rings, so the code and library dependencies should be interoperable. I just added you as a collaborator on git...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Happy to get some responses from everyone. I apologize for my delayed responses. I've been waiting to post again until I finish soldering and wiring everything in my new case. I cut and re-welded my steel channel, because the prior case design had terrible ergonomics. Here are some screenshots: 5674...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Overdub is like playback, but the whole thing is orange instead of green. It gets more interesting as the states get more sophisticated. When I hit multiply, the whole thing turns purple. Here it is near the end of the first loop (when it hasn't added another loop): multiply_before_adding_2nd.jpg Af...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Wanted to show you what I was able to pull off with your auto register events on loop position, and state changes. These are screenshots from a video, because it's harder to post a video than to do screenshots: I have an LED ring which visually represents what is going on with the looper. When I hit...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Jesse, Yes I did. Haven't posted in a while but I've made massive strides on this project, may have a finished prototype in a week or two. I don't have any technical problems at the moment related to SooperLooper. Was able to connect through Python (I just didn't understand the library at the time, ...

Re: SL on raspberry pi freezes jackd
In case anyone on this thread still has any interest in solving this problem, or if anyone else chances on this thread looking for a solution, I was able to get rid of this message. There are a few posts suggesting this problem can arise with hostname issues. Here is one such post: http://www.essej....

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Ok, Scowering the forums, a few posts came up where "got xrun" problems we're solved by correcting hostname issues. Here is one such post: http://www.essej.net/slforum/viewtopic.php?p=40#p40 So the output of "hostname" on my machine is "sooperlooperpi". I changed out th...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
I finished Milestone 2. I was able to get the LED rings to perform all sorts of tricks based on python code. I am now stuck on something with Milestone 3. Jackd and Sooperlooper fire up fine as a background process, and sooperlooper gives me no errors. However, if I try to fire up a python script to...

Re: SL on raspberry pi freezes jackd
Also looking for a solution to this. I am also on a Raspberry Pi, running a realtime kernel. I can launch Sooperlooper and jackd without the XRun error, but the second I try to connect to it with OSC via python, it gives me an infinite loop of the console outputting "got xrun". If anyone e...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Ok, I got through a few stages. Finally got a stomp switch wired into the Raspberry Pi and triggering Python code. Also got the LED rings controllable in python. led_ring_and_stomp_switch.jpg Also, as promised, here is an image of my enclosure with my foot in the shot for size reference: enclosure.j...

I've migrated this thread to "Alternative GUI's", because I think it is a more appropriate place for this sort of thing. Also posting new developments there. See below:

EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
Updated 3/24/2020: Finally updating this post after nearly a year. A pedal which requires no ...

Why Insert?
This is more of a philosophical question then a technical question. I am in the middle of building a physical stomp-box for sooperlooper which runs on a RPi. I've been trying to wrap my head around the original echoplex stompbox design, as I decide how to design my own stompbox, and I am scratching ...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
One more update: Playing around with the Midi bindings in Sooperlooper last night, it appears that there is only a single-direction of control, from midi interface to Soolooper. This would mean that with an RPI + Arduino as midi server setup, one could not populate looptime or control the LED lights...

Re: EDP Clone - A Raspberry Pi Project
I can get answers to technical questions by other means. However, if there is anyone left around with opinions about the ideal design (I mean in a non-technical sense. Like the question: "If you could wave a genie wand and your ideal headless switch / led / control layout for Sooperlooper appea...
